Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire Visits Davy Markham
The highlight of the Sheffield social calendar is, without doubt, the Cutlers’ Feast, which has been held every year since 1682. This year’s Feast, hosted by the current Master Cutler, Gordon Bridge, was attended by 375 guests including nobility, dignitaries, leading local and national industrialists, and Freemen of the Cutlers’ Company. The principal guest and speaker this year was the Rt Hon William Hague MP, who returned to Sheffield for his second Cutlers’ Feast.
On the following day, the Cutlers’ Company organised visits to The Master Cutler’s own business AESSEAL, a global leader in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, and also to Davy Markham. The visits took place in the morning, followed by luncheon at the Cutlers’ Hall.
The visit to Davy Markham included a guided tour of the manufacturing facilities and a presentation by Managing Director, Kevin Parkin, who has recently been honoured with the title Freeman of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire. The occasion was a resounding success, with many of the distinguished visitors commenting that they were impressed by the size, scale and quality of the engineering projects carried out by the company
