Sheffield Forgemasters offers a one-stop for steel production and manufacture with integrated steel melt shop, forge, foundry, machine shops, significant NDT capabilities and extensive R&D facilities.
Our melt shop can produce a broad range of steel compositions from plain carbon to stainless in ingots from 1t to 300t via Electric Arc Furnace and vacuum ladle steelmaking processes. It is also responsible for sales of forged ingot and bar.
We manufacture the largest steel castings and forgings in the western world for a range of heavy engineering markets including steel processing, power generation, offshore oil, petrochemical and defence industries. Single piece castings up to 350t finished weight have been produced from over 630t of liquid steel. Our forge is able to handle ingots of up to 300t and produce finished weight pieces of up to 200t.
Our R&D department uses the latest available software to design, draw and simulate manufacture of the most complex components for the offshore, power generation and hydropower industries plus many other “one off” forgings and castings.
With access to some of the best metallurgists, forge and foundry personnel in the UK, backed up by a team of engineers, designers and computer analysts using software such as Pro Engineer, Magmasoft, Mathcad and Pro Mechanica, we can manage a project from initial concept through design, to simulation, manufacture, testing and delivery.
